Case IH 518561-13 - ACM – ACM: EHR lever 3 low voltage
Issue description
The control module is detecting an implausible, out-of-range, or missing voltage signal from the potentiometer inside the #3 Electro-Hydraulic Remote (EHR) lever.
Applies to these machines
2 machines- MAGNUM AFS Connect
- Case IH Steiger series
Check the cause
Check calibration values using the Electronic Service Tool (EST) by navigating to the ACM Configuration and viewing the calibration results for the EHR levers.
Verify potentiometer voltages for the EHR lever using the EST. Typical healthy values are: Neutral Position (~550 mV), Float Position (~0 mV), Lower Position (~180 mV), and Raised Position (~910 mV).
Attempt to recalibrate the EHR lever. If the EST shows voltage deviations of more than 30mV after multiple calibration attempts, the internal sensor is failing.
Verify the wiring harness between the ACM and the EHR lever block. Check the 5V reference circuit, sensor ground, and the specific potentiometer signal wire for Lever 3 for any shorts to ground or open circuits.
Repair steps
Prepare the Tractor
Ensure the tractor is not moving, the park brake is applied (both electronic and mechanical, if equipped), and the engine is OFF but the ignition is ON.
Save Configurations
Using the EST, go to the ACM Configuration and 'Save Data to File' to back up your current basic/advanced configurations and existing EHR lever calibration values.
Access the Lever Block
Power down the machine and disconnect the battery. Remove the armrest console cover to access the EHR lever block assembly.
Replace the Lever
Disconnect the electrical connector for EHR Lever 3. Remove the retaining hardware, extract the faulty lever, and install the new replacement lever.
Reassemble and Power Up
Reconnect the harness, reassemble the armrest, and turn the ignition back on.
Calibrate the New Lever
Reconnect the EST and perform the EHR lever calibration procedure for the newly installed lever to register its specific Neutral, Float, Lower, and Raise voltage limits with the ACM.
