Case IH 518563-03 - ACM – ACM: EHR lever E voltage high

The system has detected that the voltage signal from the potentiometer inside Electro-Hydraulic Remote (EHR) lever 5 (Lever E) is exceeding the maximum expected threshold. This typically indicates a short to a high-voltage source, an open ground circuit on the lever's sensor, an internal failure of the lever's potentiometer, or an incorrect software configuration where the module is looking for a 5th lever that does not physically exist on the machine.

   Verify ACM Configuration: Check the tractor's configuration settings via the AFS Pro display or the Electronic Service Tool (EST). Ensure the module is programmed for the exact number of EHR levers physically installed.

   Inspect the Lever: Physically inspect EHR Lever 5 (Lever E) on the armrest. Check if the lever is physically stuck, damaged, or failing to return to the neutral position.

   Check Wiring and Connectors: Lift the armrest console cover and inspect the wiring harness connecting EHR Lever 5 to the ACM. Look for pinched wires, chafing, or disconnected plugs.

   Test the Circuit: Use a multimeter to check the voltage at the lever's connector. Verify that the lever is receiving the correct reference voltage (usually 5V) and that the ground circuit has continuity.

   Power Down

   Turn off the tractor, remove the key, and disconnect the battery ground if you are going to be replacing electrical components.

   Access the Armrest Internals

   Remove the retaining screws on the MultiControl armrest housing to access the EHR lever block and the ACM connections.

   Resolve Wiring/Configuration Issues

   If the wiring is damaged, repair the open ground or shorted wire in the armrest harness. If the tractor does not have a 5th lever, use the EST to reconfigure the ACM to ignore Lever 5.

   Replace the EHR Lever (if faulty)

   If the wiring is intact and the configuration is correct, the lever's internal potentiometer has failed. Disconnect the electrical connector for Lever 5, unbolt the lever assembly from the armrest block, and install the replacement lever.

   Reassemble

   Reconnect the wiring harness and reinstall the armrest covers.

   Calibrate the Levers

   Power up the tractor. You must perform the EHR lever calibration procedure using the AFS Pro display or the EST. The ACM needs to learn the new lever's minimum, maximum, and neutral voltage positions.

   Clear Codes

   Clear the 518563-03 fault code and test the remote valve operation to ensure the code does not return.
