Case IH 518563-06 - ACM – ACM: EHR lever 5 voltage low
Issue description
The signal voltage from the position sensor/potentiometer of the number 5 EHR lever has dropped below the acceptable lower limit. This is typically caused by a short to ground, an open circuit in the wiring, or an internal failure of the lever's potentiometer.
Applies to these machines
2 machines- MAGNUM AFS Connect
- Steiger AFS Connect
Check the cause
Determine if the EHR levers were recently calibrated or if a controller was recently changed, as loss of calibration can trigger lever position faults.
Inspect the wiring harness and connectors between the EHR lever assembly and the Armrest Control Module (ACM) for damaged pins, corrosion, or chafed wires causing a short to ground or open circuit.
Look for other ACM error codes (such as 8V reference voltage faults or offline codes like 4004/4005) which might indicate a broader module or harness issue rather than an isolated lever failure.
Repair steps
Recalibrate the EHR Levers
Access the AFS Connect monitor. Navigate to the Menu > Diagnostics > Calibrations, and select the EHR lever calibration procedure. Follow the on-screen prompts to cycle the levers.
Clear and Retest
Once calibration is complete, clear the fault code and test the EHR lever 5 for normal operation.
Software Configuration
If the code returns immediately, verify that the ACM has the correct level of software and that the EHR valves are properly configured in the system.
Replace the Component
If the wiring is intact, the software is correct, and calibration fails to resolve the low voltage reading, the internal potentiometer of the EHR lever has failed. Remove the armrest panel and replace the EHR lever/control unit.
Final Calibration
After installing a new lever, you must perform the EHR lever calibration procedure again before the system will operate normally.
