518563-13 - ACM

Case IH 518563-13 - ACM – ACM: EHR Lever 5 Sensor Disagreement or Out-of-Range Signal

Issue description

Indicates an issue with the 5th Electro-Hydraulic Remote lever (EHR Lever 5 or Lever E). The code translates to a sensor disagreement or out-of-range signal where the lever's physical position does not match the expected electrical values, typically pointing to an out-of-calibration state or low voltage.

Applies to these machines

  • MAGNUM AFS Connect
  • Magnum 180
  • Magnum 200
  • Magnum 220
  • Magnum 240
  • Magnum 250
  • Magnum 280
  • Magnum 340
  • Magnum 380
  • Magnum 400

Check the cause

  1. Inspect the physical condition of EHR lever #5 (Lever E) on the armrest to ensure it moves freely, does not bind, and springs back to the neutral position properly.

  2. Check the calibration status, especially if the ACM or central controller was recently replaced, flashed, or if the battery died, which can cause a loss of calibration data.

  3. Inspect the wiring harness and electrical connector under the armrest leading to the EHR lever block for damaged pins, corrosion, or loose connections.

  4. Verify that the ACM software is up to date, as outdated software can trigger false sensor disagreements.

Repair steps

  1. Preparation

Park the tractor on a level surface, turn off the engine, and ensure all EHR levers are in the neutral position.

  2. Attempt Calibration

Before replacing parts, attempt to recalibrate the EHR lever. Access the tractor's diagnostic/calibration menu via the AFS Pro 1200 display or instrument cluster.

  3. Run the Relearn

Navigate to the EHR calibration menu and select Lever 5. Follow the on-screen prompts to move the lever through its full range of motion (extend, retract, float) so the ACM can relearn the sensor's voltage limits.

  4. Power Down

If the calibration fails (e.g., the display shows a calibration error) or the fault code immediately returns, power down the tractor and disconnect the battery.

  5. Disassemble Armrest

Remove the necessary trim panels on the MultiControl armrest to access the internal EHR lever block.

  6. Remove Faulty Lever

Unplug the electrical connector from EHR lever #5, remove the retaining screws, and extract the faulty lever module.

  7. Install New Part

Install the replacement EHR lever module and securely reconnect the wiring harness.

  8. Reassemble and Power Up

Reassemble the armrest trim, reconnect the battery, and turn the ignition on.

  9. Final Calibration

You MUST perform the EHR lever calibration procedure again for the new lever to marry it to the ACM. Clear the stored fault codes and test the hydraulic remote for proper operation.
