518564-00 - ACM

Case IH 518564-00 - ACM – ACM: Internal failure in EHR lever 6

Issue description

The control module has detected an internal hardware failure, sensor mismatch, or out-of-range potentiometer signal within the Electro-Hydraulic Remote (EHR) control lever F.

Applies to these machines

  • MAGNUM AFS Connect
  • Case IH Magnum AFS Connect series
  • Case IH Steiger / Quadtrac series
  • Case IH Puma series
  • Case IH Maxxum series

Check the cause

  1. Check Calibration Status: Determine if the EHR lever was recently calibrated or if the ACM was recently replaced. An uncalibrated lever can sometimes throw internal failure or out-of-range codes.

  2. Recalibrate the Lever: Enter the tractor's diagnostic menu (via the AFS Pro / Vision Pro display) and perform the EHR lever calibration procedure for Lever F (Lever 6).

  3. Check Software Levels: Verify the ACM software version. If the fault occurs immediately after calibration, OEM manuals recommend updating the ACM software to the latest version and repeating the calibration.

  4. Wiring Inspection: Inspect the wiring harness and connector beneath the armrest for Lever F to ensure there are no loose pins, corrosion, or short circuits causing a false internal failure reading.

Repair steps

  1. Power Down

Turn off the tractor and disconnect battery power to prevent shorting any components in the armrest.

  2. Access the ACM

Remove the armrest cover/bezel to expose the EHR lever bank.

  3. Remove the Faulty Lever

Locate EHR Lever F (the 6th lever in the sequence). Disconnect its electrical connector.

  4. Unbolt the Lever

Remove the mounting screws/hardware holding the specific lever assembly in the armrest pod.

  5. Install the New Lever

Seat the replacement EHR lever into the armrest, secure it with the mounting hardware, and plug in the electrical connector.

  6. Reassemble

    Reinstall the armrest cover/bezel.

  7. Calibrate the New Lever

Reconnect the battery and turn the key on. You must perform the EHR lever calibration procedure so the ACM can learn the specific potentiometer voltage values of the new lever.
