Case IH 518564-01 - ACM – ACM: Internal failure in EHR lever 6

Issue description

The control system has detected an internal electrical failure—typically a failed internal potentiometer, out-of-range voltage, or a dead circuit—within the 6th remote valve control lever located on the operator's armrest.

Applies to these machines

  • MAGNUM AFS Connect
  • Case IH Magnum AFS Connect Series (e.g., Magnum 200, 215, 230, 245, 340, 400)
  • Case IH Steiger AFS Connect Series

Check the cause

  1. Check if the EHR lever was recently calibrated. Perform the EHR lever calibration procedure using the AFS Pro 1200 display.

  2. If the lever is already calibrated but the code persists, download/flash the correct (latest) level of ACM software and repeat the EHR lever calibration procedure.

  3. Lift the armrest console and inspect the wiring harness connecting the EHR lever block to the ACM. Ensure the connectors are fully seated, not damaged, and that no pins are pushed out or corroded.

  4. If physically possible, swap the electrical connection of Lever 6 (F) with Lever 5 (E). If the fault code changes to the Lever 5 circuit (e.g., 518563-01), the lever itself is confirmed dead. If the fault remains on Lever 6, the issue is in the wiring harness or the ACM itself.

Repair steps

  1. Disconnect Power

Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts while working on the armrest module.

  2. Access the ACM

Remove the retaining screws for the armrest console cover/trim to expose the EHR lever block assembly.

  3. Disconnect Harness

Locate EHR Lever 6 (the furthest right lever in a 6-lever setup) and carefully disconnect its specific electrical harness connector.

  4. Remove the Lever

Unbolt the retaining screws holding the faulty EHR lever to the armrest housing and pull the lever out.

  5. Install New Part

Seat the new EHR lever into the console, secure it with the mounting screws, and plug in the electrical connector.

  6. Reassemble

Reinstall the armrest console cover and reconnect the tractor's battery.

  7. Mandatory Calibration

Power on the tractor. You *must* perform the EHR lever calibration procedure via the AFS display so the ACM can learn the minimum, maximum, and neutral potentiometer values of the new lever.

Parts you might need

(2)
  • EHR Lever (Electro-Hydraulic Remote Lever) / Remote Valve Lever

    90493683

Fits Case IH Magnum and Steiger AFS Connect armrests. Note that levers in the AFS Connect series no longer latch into maximum detent positions mechanically; they are spring-return-to-center and rely on the ACM for timer/detent functions.

  • Knob

    406962A1

If the colored EHR lever knob needs to be replaced separately
