Case IH 518564-14 - ACM – ACM: Incorrect EHR Lever Configuration

Issue description

The Armrest Control Module (ACM) does not recognize the configuration, assignment, or calibration of the Electro-Hydraulic Remote (EHR) lever. The electronic signal from the lever does not match the expected parameters, or the lever has lost its software assignment to a specific rear remote valve.

Applies to these machines

  • MAGNUM AFS Connect
  • Steiger AFS Connect
  • Puma

Check the cause

  1. Verify Lever Assignment on the AFS Connect display to ensure the EHR lever is properly assigned to a rear remote valve. Unassigned levers will lack a color-coded designation.

  2. Check Calibration Status to determine if the EHR lever was recently replaced, or if the ACM was updated/replaced, which necessitates a recalibration.

  3. Inspect electrical connections and wiring between the EHR lever and the Armrest Control Module for any loose pins, corrosion, or wiring damage.

  4. Check for related ACM communication fault codes (e.g., 2818) or voltage codes that might indicate a hardware failure rather than just a configuration issue.

Repair steps

  1. Reconfigure the Lever

On the AFS Connect display, navigate to Menu > Tractor > Settings > Configurable Controls. Assign the unassigned or incorrectly configured EHR lever to the correct rear remote valve (matching the color-coded stickers on the rear of the tractor).

  2. Perform Calibration

If the lever is assigned but the code persists (or if the lever/ACM was recently replaced), perform the EHR lever calibration procedure using the Electronic Service Tool (EST) or the onboard display.

  3. Software Update

If the EHR lever was calibrated and the code returns, download and flash the correct/latest level of software to the ACM, then repeat the calibration procedure.

  4. Replace Component

If the fault occurs again after software updates and recalibration, the EHR lever itself has an internal hardware failure and must be removed and replaced.
