Case IH 518566-00 - ACM – ACM: Internal failure in EHR lever 8

Issue description

Internal failure in EHR lever 8 (also referred to as EHR lever H). The EHR (Electro-Hydraulic Remote) lever is the physical control used by the operator to raise, lower, extend, or retract the hydraulic cylinders.

Applies to these machines

  • MAGNUM AFS Connect
  • Steiger AFS Connect

Check the cause

  1. Check if the EHR lever was properly calibrated. If it was not, perform the EHR lever calibration procedure.

  2. Retrieve the controller values for the Basic and Advanced Configurations in the EST and save the data to a file.

  3. View the calibration results for the EHR levers. Typical voltage values for a functioning EHR lever should be: Neutral Position Value: 550 mV, Float Position Value: 0 mV, Lower Position Value: 180 mV, Raised Position Value: 910 mV.

  4. Check if the values show deviations of 30mV or higher after multiple calibration attempts, indicating the EHR lever has failed internally.

  5. If the error code occurs but voltages are within range, ensure the correct level of software is downloaded to the ACM and repeat the calibration procedure.

Repair steps

  1. Ensure the tractor is safe for service

The tractor must not be moving, the park brake must be applied (both electronic and mechanical), and the engine must not be running with the ignition on.

  2. Connect the Electronic Service Tool (EST)

    Navigate to the ACM Configuration.

  3. Save the previous calibration values and ACM configurations

Save to a file as a backup.

  4. Perform the EHR lever calibration procedure

  5. Remove the faulty EHR lever from the armrest console

Do this if the fault occurs again or the voltage deviations exceed 30mV.

  6. Install the replacement EHR lever

    Use the correct Service KIT.

  7. Perform the EHR lever calibration procedure again on the newly installed lever

Ensure it registers the correct mV values for Neutral, Float, Lower, and Raised positions.

Parts you might need

(1)
  • EHR Lever (Electro-Hydraulic Remote Lever)

    90493683

Used to raise, lower, extend, or retract hydraulic cylinders. Note that any EHR lever can be assigned to any EHR valve installed, and they are numbered from left to right on the armrest.
