518568-02 - ACM

Case IH 518568-02 - ACM – ACM: EHR A extended switch circuit fault

Issue description

An electrical circuit malfunction—such as an open circuit, short to ground, or short to power—in the extended switch/lever used to control Electro-Hydraulic Remote (EHR) valve A.

Applies to these machines

  • MAGNUM AFS Connect
  • Magnum 180 AFS Connect
  • Magnum 200 AFS Connect
  • Magnum 220 AFS Connect
  • Magnum 240 AFS Connect
  • Magnum 250 AFS Connect
  • Magnum 280 AFS Connect
  • Magnum 310 AFS Connect
  • Magnum 340 AFS Connect
  • Magnum 380 AFS Connect
  • Magnum 400 AFS Connect

Check the cause

  1. Verify the fault code is active on the AFS Pro 1200 display.

  2. Inspect the EHR A switch on the MultiFunction Handle / MultiControl Armrest for physical damage, sticking, or debris preventing full travel.

  3. Inspect the 17-pin connector on the Armrest Control Module (ACM) for bent pins, corrosion, or moisture.

  4. Perform a continuity and voltage test on the wiring harness between the EHR A switch and the ACM, checking for voltage drops or shorts to ground.

Repair steps

  1. Power Down

Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery. Take standard electrical precautions as the ACM is sensitive to electrostatic discharge.

  2. Access the Armrest Internals

Carefully disassemble the MultiControl Armrest housing to expose the internal wiring harness, the EHR switches, and the ACM.

  3. Disconnect Components

Unplug the harness from the EHR A switch and disconnect the 17-pin connector from the ACM.

  4. Repair Wiring (If Applicable)

If the diagnostic tests revealed a short or break in the wiring harness, repair the damaged section of the wire or replace the armrest sub-harness.

  5. Replace the Switch

If the wiring tests good but the switch fails continuity tests when toggled, remove the retaining hardware for the EHR A switch/lever and install a new OEM replacement switch.

  6. Reassembly

Reconnect the switch harness and securely seat the 17-pin connector back into the ACM. Reassemble the armrest housing.

  7. Calibration & Clearing

Reconnect the battery and power on the tractor. Use the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST) to clear the fault code and, if necessary, recalibrate the armrest controls and EHR lever positions.
