Case IH 518584-07 - UCM – UCM: Brake assisted steering cut off relay circuit fault

Issue description

The system has detected a circuit fault (such as an open circuit, short, or abnormal resistance) in the relay responsible for cutting off the automated brake-assisted steering system.

Check the cause

  1. Locate the brake-assisted steering cut off relay

  2. Inspect the brake-assisted steering wiring harness for physical damage, chafing, or loose connections

  3. Test the relay itself for internal shorts or open circuits

  4. Verify the circuit continuity between the cut off relay and the Universal Control Module (UCM)

Repair steps

  1. Disconnect battery power

    Disconnect battery power before servicing the UCM or relay circuits.

  2. Replace relay

    If the relay is tested and found to be faulty, replace the brake assisted steering cut off relay.

  3. Repair or replace wiring harness

    If the wiring harness is damaged, repair or replace the affected section of the brake-assisted steering harness.

  4. Reconnect power and clear codes

    Reconnect power, clear the UCM fault codes using the Electronic Service Tool (EST), and test the tractor's steering and braking system to ensure the code does not return.
