Case IH 518661-02 - ACM – ACM: "Mouse" hitch fast lower switch circuit fault
Issue description
The system has detected that the electrical signal from the fast lower button on the multi-function handle is outside of expected voltage parameters, which will likely disable the fast-lower function of the rear hitch.
Applies to these machines
4 machines- MAGNUM AFS Connect
- Magnum Series (235, 260, 290, 315, 340)
- Puma Series (165, 175, 180, 195, 210, 225 CVX)
- Steiger Series
Check the cause
Attempt to operate the hitch fast lower switch on the multi-function handle to see if the hitch responds or if the fault is currently active.
Inspect the wiring harness inside the armrest console. Look for pinched, frayed, or disconnected wires leading to the Multi-Function Handle.
Locate the specific switch connector (S-117 or S119, connecting to the X846 connector) and use a multimeter to test the switch for proper continuity when pressed and released.
Check the CAN communication lines and the multi-pin connections at the Armrest Control Module (ACM) for corrosion, backed-out pins, or loose connections.
Repair steps
Power Down
Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery earth cables to prevent electrical shorts or damage to the electronic systems.
Disassemble Armrest
Remove the retaining screws for the armrest control console and carefully lift the Multi-Function Handle cover to expose the internal wiring harnesses.
Inspect & Isolate
Locate the S-117 / S119 hitch fast lower switch and its corresponding X846 connector. Disconnect the electrical connector.
Repair Wiring
If the wiring harness is damaged (a common issue where wires flex inside the armrest), repair the broken or shorted wire using appropriate electrical connectors and heat shrink.
Replace Component
If the wiring is intact but the switch fails the continuity test, replace the switch. (Note: Depending on the specific handle revision, the switch may be integrated into the Multi-Function Handle, requiring replacement of the handle assembly).
Reassembly
Reconnect the wiring, reassemble the armrest console, and reconnect the battery.
Clear Codes
Turn the key on, clear the fault codes via the tractor's diagnostic display, and test the hitch fast lower function to verify the repair.
