Case IH 518666-14 - ACM – ACM: Incorrect mouse configuration

Issue description

The fault indicates a configuration mismatch, software error, or communication failure between the encoder dial ('mouse') on the MultiControl Armrest and the armrest's control system.

Applies to these machines

  • MAGNUM AFS Connect
  • Magnum AFS Connect Series
  • Magnum 180
  • Magnum 200
  • Magnum 220
  • Magnum 240
  • Magnum 250
  • Magnum 280
  • Magnum 310
  • Magnum 340
  • Magnum 380
  • Magnum 400
  • Steiger / Quadtrac AFS Connect Series
  • Steiger 475
  • Steiger 500
  • Optum AFS Connect Series
  • Optum 300
  • Optum 340
  • Puma AFS Connect Series

Check the cause

  1. Check if there is a pending software update for the Armrest Control Module (e.g., updating to software version 1.1.0.0 or newer)

  2. Verify operating conditions for diagnostics: ensure the tractor is not moving, the park brake is applied (both electronic and mechanical), and the engine is not running but the ignition is ON

  3. Check for related codes, such as code 2818 (Loss of communication with the Armrest Control Module), which might indicate a broader module failure rather than just the encoder dial

  4. Inspect the encoder dial on the MultiControl Armrest for physical damage, sticking, or liquid intrusion that could disrupt its signal to the ACM

Repair steps

  1. Connect the Electronic Service Tool (EST)

Plug the Case IH EST into the tractor's diagnostic port.

  2. Flash/Update the ACM

Set up the controllers for downloading in the EST. Select the ACM controller and browse for the latest software package (.zip file) provided by Case IH. Push the update to the module.

  3. Recalibrate

Following the software update, perform the required ACM calibration checks as prompted by the EST to ensure the encoder dial ('mouse') is properly configured to the AFS Pro 1200 display.

  4. Hardware Replacement (If Software Fails)

If the software update and calibration do not clear the 518666-14 code, the physical encoder dial/joystick assembly or the ACM Electronic Control Unit itself has failed and must be replaced.

  5. Clear Codes

Cycle the key and use the EST to clear the fault codes. Test the encoder dial by navigating the AFS Pro 1200 display menus to verify the repair.
