Case IH 518667-02 - ACM – ACM: Mouse wheel switch circuit fault

Issue description

The control module is detecting an electrical irregularity (such as an open circuit, short, or out-of-range resistance) from the scroll wheel switch located on the Electronic Draft Control (EDC) "mouse" on the tractor's armrest.

Applies to these machines

  • MAGNUM AFS Connect
  • Case IH Magnum AFS Connect
  • Case IH Steiger
  • Case IH Quadtrac
  • Case IH Rowtrac

Check the cause

  1. Inspect the physical condition of the EDC mouse wheel on the armrest to ensure it is not jammed, broken, or packed with dirt, dust, or spilled liquids.

  2. Check for accompanying ACM codes (such as 518666-19, 518666-06, or 518666-03) that might pinpoint the specific electrical failure.

  3. Access the underside of the armrest, disconnect the EDC mouse, and inspect the connector pins for corrosion, pushed-back pins, or moisture.

  4. Connect the CNH Electronic Service Tool (EST), navigate to the ACM module, and monitor the live input status of the mouse wheel switch to see if the state changes when moved.

Repair steps

  1. Preparation

Park the machine on a level surface, turn off the engine, apply the parking brake, and disconnect the battery ground cable to prevent electrical spikes.

  2. Disassembly

Carefully pry up or unscrew the trim panels on the right-hand armrest console to access the underside of the multi-function handle and the EDC mouse control module.

  3. Removal

Disconnect the electrical harness connector from the EDC mouse. Remove the retaining screws securing the mouse control unit to the armrest housing.

  4. Installation

Seat the new EDC mouse control unit into the armrest and secure it with the retaining screws.

  5. Reconnection

Plug the electrical harness back into the new unit, ensuring the locking tab clicks into place. Reinstall the armrest trim panels.

  6. Calibration

Reconnect the battery ground. Turn the key to the ON position. Connect the CNH EST laptop, clear the inactive 518667-02 fault code from the ACM, and perform any required armrest control calibrations to ensure the module recognizes the new switch parameters.
