Case IH 518676-00 - ACM – ACM: Circuit or internal failure associated with the hitch settings selector knob

Indicates a circuit failure or internal failure associated with the hitch settings selector knob (often referred to as a rotary encoder or dial) on the tractor's armrest.

   Inspect the physical hitch settings selector knob/rotary encoder on the armrest to see if it is broken, sticking, or freely spinning without resistance

   Access the wiring harness beneath the armrest cover and check the connector going to the hitch settings knob for backed-out pins, corrosion, or wire chafing

3. 3

   Verify that the ACM software is up to date (e.g., version 1.1.0.0 or newer) to rule out erroneous fault codes triggering in the Armrest Control Module

   Test the circuit for proper 5V reference and ground from the ACM to the switch

   Power Down

   Turn off the tractor, remove the key, and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts while working on the ACM.

   Access the Armrest Internals

   Remove the retaining screws on the underside or perimeter of the AFS Connect armrest console to lift the upper plastic cover.

   Locate the Switch

   Locate the hitch settings selector knob assembly (integrated control panel).

   Disconnect

   Unplug the electrical connector specifically routed to the hitch rotary encoder.

   Remove and Replace

   Remove the mounting clips or Torx screws holding the faulty knob/encoder in place. Install the replacement knob and secure the fasteners.

   Reconnect the wiring harness, ensuring the connector clicks into place. Reinstall the armrest cover.

   Clear Codes & Test

   Reconnect the battery, power on the tractor, and use the AFS Pro display (or EST diagnostic tool) to clear the inactive 518676-00 fault code. Test the hitch dial to ensure the display registers the changes in draft and position limits.
