Case IH 518676-06 - ACM – ACM: Hitch settings selector knob voltage low
Issue description
The control module is detecting that the signal voltage from the hitch settings selector knob (a rotary encoder/potentiometer on the armrest) has dropped below the minimum acceptable threshold. In a standard 5V reference circuit, a "voltage low" fault typically indicates a short to ground in the signal circuit, a loss of the 5V reference supply, or an internal short/failure within the knob's potentiometer itself.

Check the cause
Visually inspect the physical condition of the hitch settings selector knob on the right side of the armrest console. Ensure it rotates smoothly and is not physically broken.
Use the AFS Pro 1200 display or the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST) to view the live voltage reading of the hitch settings knob. Observe if the voltage stays pinned at 0V when the knob is turned.
Lift the armrest console covers and inspect the wiring harness connecting the knob to the ACM. Look for pinched wires, chafing against the armrest frame, or backed-out pins at the connector.
Disconnect the knob and measure the reference voltage pin from the ACM; it should read a steady 5V.
Check the ground pin for continuity to the chassis/ACM ground.
Test the signal wire for continuity to the ACM and ensure it is not shorted to ground.
If the 5V reference and ground are present, and the signal wire is intact but the fault persists, suspect an internal failure of the rotary encoder/potentiometer.
Repair steps
Preparation
Park the tractor on a level surface, lower all implements to the ground, turn off the key, and disconnect the battery ground cable to prevent electrical spikes.
Access the Armrest Internals
Remove the retaining screws for the Multicontroller armrest trim panels to expose the internal wiring and the ACM.
Remove the Faulty Knob
Locate the hitch settings selector knob assembly. Disconnect its electrical connector.
Dismount the Switch
Remove the retaining clips or screws holding the rotary encoder assembly to the armrest bezel.
Install the New Part
Seat the new hitch settings selector knob into the console and secure it with the retaining hardware.
Reassembly
Reconnect the electrical connector, ensuring the locking tab clicks into place. Reinstall the armrest trim panels.
Calibration
Reconnect the battery. Turn the key ON. Use the AFS Pro 1200 display (navigate to the Hitch Cal / Hitch Settings menu) or the EST laptop to clear the inactive 518676-06 fault code and verify the new knob's voltage sweep.
