Case IH 518709-02 - ACM – ACM: Phone display shortcut switch circuit fault
Issue description
Indicates an electrical circuit error—such as a short circuit, open circuit, or out-of-range voltage—originating from the specific programmable shortcut button on the armrest used to access the phone/media menu on the tractor's display.
Applies to these machines
5 machines- MAGNUM AFS Connect
- Magnum AFS Connect series
- Steiger / Quadtrac AFS Connect series
- Optum AFS Connect series
- Puma AFS Connect series
Check the cause
Verify Armrest Control Module (ACM) communication with the CAN network (check for accompanying codes like 1012 or 4004 indicating loss of communication).
Inspect the physical condition of the programmable shortcut buttons on the Multicontroller armrest. Ensure the phone display button is not physically stuck, damaged, or contaminated with debris.
Inspect the wiring harness connecting the armrest control panel to the ACM for pinched wires or loose connector pins.
Verify that the 5-volt reference circuits in the armrest are within normal limits (accompanying codes like 1014 or 1015 indicate 5V reference faults).
Repair steps
Power Down
Turn off the machine and disconnect battery power to prevent electrostatic discharge damage to the modules.
Access the Armrest Console
Remove the necessary trim panels on the right-hand Multicontroller armrest to access the internal switch wiring and the Armrest Control Module.
Circuit Testing
Test the continuity of the phone display shortcut switch. If the switch fails continuity tests when pressed/released, the switch or the integrated control panel must be replaced.
Module Replacement (If necessary)
If the switch and wiring harness test good, the fault likely lies within the ACM itself. Disconnect the 17-pin connector from the ACM and replace the module.
Reassembly and Calibration
Reconnect battery power. Turn the key on and allow the AFS Pro 1200 display to boot up. Clear the inactive fault codes and test the programmable shortcut buttons to ensure the phone menu prompts correctly on the screen.

Right-Hand Control Panel / Armrest Assembly
55.512.021The individual shortcut switches are often integrated directly into the right-hand control panel assembly. If the switch itself is internally shorted and cannot be serviced separately, this assembly must be ordered.
