Case IH 518861-06 - BCM – BCM: ATC water valve - over voltage
Issue description
Electrical fault (such as a short to power or internal failure) in the ATC water valve / heater control valve actuator circuit.
Applies to these machines
3 machines- MAGNUM AFS Connect
- Magnum 400 AFS Connect
- AFX8010
Check the cause
Check the wiring harness and connectors between the HVAC module, the ATC water valve (heater control valve actuator), and the ATC control module (A-15 or M-16).
Test the circuit for a short to power. Inspect the connectors for corrosion, bent pins, or wire chafing that could be bridging voltage to the sensor/actuator circuit.
Verify that the LIN (Local Interconnect Network) bus communication lines between the ATC module and the actuator are intact and not shorted.
Repair steps
Access the HVAC Box
Locate the heater control valve actuator (water valve) on the HVAC module.
Remove the Faulty Actuator
Disconnect the electrical connector and unbolt the failed actuator from the HVAC box.
Install the New Actuator
Mount the replacement actuator and reconnect the wiring harness.
Readdress the LIN Actuator
Connect the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST) to the machine's diagnostic connector. Run the LIN actuator addressing procedure via the EST to assign the correct address to the new heater control valve actuator so it can communicate properly with the BCM.
Clear Codes and Test
Cycle the ATC switch off and on, clear the fault codes, and verify that the digital temperature display operates correctly without throwing the code.
