Case IH 518864-03 - BCM – BCM: ATC right vent - permanent electrical defect
Issue description
The right vent door actuator for the Automatic Temperature Control (ATC) system is experiencing a permanent electrical fault (such as an open circuit or short) and is not responding, which results in reduced HVAC functionality.
Applies to these machines
4 machines- MAGNUM AFS Connect
- Magnum 180 AFS Connect
- Magnum 340 AFS Connect
- Magnum 400 AFS Connect
Check the cause
Connect an Electronic Service Tool (EST) to verify the active BCM fault codes.
Inspect the wiring harness and the 4-pin connector at the right vent door actuator for damaged wires, corrosion, or a disconnected plug.
Attempt a manual recalibration to see if the actuator can recover its position.
Repair steps
Safety Prep
Park the vehicle on a hard, flat surface. Shift the transmission to Park or Neutral, turn the engine OFF, set the parking brake, and install wheel chocks.
Power Down
Turn the Key OFF and allow the system to completely power down before performing maintenance on vehicle components.
Replace the Actuator
Locate the right vent door actuator on the HVAC distribution box, disconnect the 4-pin electrical connector, remove the mounting screws, and install the new actuator.
Manual HVAC Calibration
Turn Key ON, Engine OFF (KOEO). Turn the blower speed control to OFF. Turn the temperature control clockwise to full hot. Turn the mode control to defrost. Press the recirculation and MAX defrost buttons simultaneously for 5 seconds. Connect the Electronic Service Tool (EST) and clear the Body Control Module (BCM) fault codes. Cycle the ignition Key OFF for 30 seconds to save the calibration.
