Case IH 519009-03 - UCM – UCM: UCM: Front suspension piston pressure sensor voltage high
Issue description
The front suspension piston pressure sensor is reporting a value that is out of range high, indicating a short circuit to a high voltage source, a broken ground wire (open circuit), or an internally failed sensor.
Applies to these machines
5 machines- MAGNUM AFS Connect
- Puma Series
- Magnum Series
- Maxxum Series
- Farmall / Quantum Series
Check the cause
Visually inspect the piston pressure sensor and its wiring harness for visible damage, excessive tension, or compression.
Ensure the 3-pin electrical connector is securely fastened and the lock catch is truly engaged. Inspect the pins for corrosion or moisture.
Test the signal line and wiring harness for a short to a high voltage source or an open ground circuit.
If the wiring harness tests good, the fault is likely an internal failure of the piston pressure sensor itself.
Repair steps
Power down machine
Turn off the machine and disconnect battery power before servicing electrical components to prevent further shorts.
Locate the sensor
Locate the front suspension piston pressure sensor on the front axle suspension hydraulic manifold/cylinder block.
Disconnect sensor
Unplug the 3-pin female electrical connector from the sensor.
Replace sensor
If diagnostics point to a failed sensor, unthread the old piston pressure sensor and install the new one. Use authorized sealant/O-rings as required by the manifold design.
Repair harness
If the connector is damaged, splice in a new 3-pin connector.
Reconnect harness
Reconnect the harness, ensuring the colored lug/lock catch is fully engaged.
Calibrate suspension
Clear the UCM fault codes. Perform a front suspension calibration routine via the instrument cluster/display, as replacing suspension sensors can trigger a 'Front suspension not calibrated' state (Code 10014).
