Case IH 519012-06 - UCM – UCM: Front suspension piston control solenoid

Indicates an issue with the Front suspension piston control solenoid. The control module is detecting an abnormally high current draw on the circuit, typically caused by a shorted solenoid coil or a wire shorting directly to the chassis.

   Inspect the wiring harness routing to the front suspension control valve block (near the front axle and fan shroud) for chafing, pinched wires, or damage.

   Disconnect the harness at the front suspension piston control solenoid and inspect the pins for moisture, corrosion, or pushed-out terminals.

   Use a multimeter to measure the resistance (Ohms) of the solenoid coil. A reading of near zero ohms indicates an internal short.

   With the solenoid disconnected, check for continuity to ground on the power supply wire between the UCM and the solenoid to rule out a short in the harness itself.

   Power Down

   Turn off the key switch and disconnect the tractor's battery to prevent electrical spikes.

   Locate the Valve

   Locate the front suspension control valve block, which is usually mounted near the front axle suspension accumulators.

   Disconnect

   Unplug the electrical connector from the suspect front suspension piston control solenoid.

   Harness Repair

   If the wiring harness is damaged (e.g., rubbed through on the chassis or fan shroud), repair the damaged section using appropriate weatherproof heat-shrink splices. Re-route and secure the harness with zip-ties or clamps to prevent future chafing.

   Solenoid Replacement

   If the harness is intact but the solenoid failed the resistance test, remove the retaining nut or bolt holding the solenoid coil to the valve cartridge. Slide the old solenoid off and install the replacement. (Note: If the internal cartridge itself is sticking, the entire valve assembly may need replacement).

   Reassembly

   Reconnect the electrical connector and the battery.

   Calibration/Testing

   Power on the tractor, clear the UCM fault codes using the AFS Pro monitor or diagnostic tool, and test the front suspension operation (raise, lower, and lockout functions) to verify the fix.
