Case IH 519013-05 - UCM – UCM: Front suspension rod control solenoid - Current Below Normal or Open Circuit
Issue description
The control module has detected an open circuit or abnormally low current draw on the circuit for the front suspension rod control solenoid.

Check the cause
Visually inspect the wiring harness running from the UCM to the front suspension control valve block for chafing, breaks, or pinch points
Disconnect the harness at the rod control solenoid and check for pushed-back pins, corrosion, or water ingress inside the connector
Measure the resistance across the pins of the solenoid coil using a multimeter to check for an open circuit (infinite resistance) or a burned-out coil
Check the continuity of the wiring harness between the solenoid connector and the UCM to test for a short to ground or an open break
Verify that the UCM is outputting the correct voltage to the solenoid when the suspension is commanded to move or calibrate
Repair steps
Park and secure tractor
Park the tractor on a level surface, lower any implements, apply the parking brake, and turn off the engine.
Disconnect battery
Disconnect the battery to prevent accidental short circuits and ensure safety while working on the UCM harness.
Locate valve block
Locate the front suspension control valve block on the front axle.
Disconnect connector
Disconnect the electrical connector from the faulty rod control solenoid.
Repair wiring
If the wiring is damaged: Splice and repair the broken wires using weather-sealed connectors, or replace the damaged pigtail connector.
Replace solenoid coil
If the solenoid coil is faulty: Remove the retaining nut at the end of the solenoid cartridge. Slide the old coil off the valve stem and install the new replacement coil. (Note: On some specific CNH valve blocks, the coil cannot be serviced separately, and the entire cartridge valve or valve block kit must be replaced).
Reconnect harness
Reconnect the electrical harness to the solenoid.
Reconnect battery and clear codes
Reconnect the battery and turn the key on. Clear the inactive fault codes from the UCM.
Test and calibrate
Start the tractor and test the front suspension operation (raise, lower, and lock functions) to ensure the code does not return. A front suspension calibration via the tractor's display may be required after replacing suspension components.
