Case IH 519013-06 - UCM – UCM: Front suspension rod control solenoid current high

The control module has detected an electrical current draw from the front suspension's rod-side control solenoid that exceeds the maximum expected limit. This is typically caused by a short circuit to ground in the wiring harness, an internally shorted solenoid coil, or a failure within the control module's driver circuit.

   Inspect the wiring harness running from the UCM to the front suspension control valve block for rubbed-through insulation, pinched wires, or areas shorting to the chassis.

   Disconnect the rod control solenoid and check the connector pins for water ingress, corrosion, or bent pins.

   Use a multimeter to measure the resistance across the pins of the rod control solenoid. A reading of near-zero ohms indicates an internal short in the solenoid coil.

   Verify that the front suspension position sensors (potentiometers) are reading correctly (voltage should typically be between 740mV and 4840mV) to ensure faulty inputs aren't causing the UCM to overwork the solenoids.

   Secure the Machine

   Park the tractor on a flat, level surface. Turn off the engine and safely support the front axle to remove load from the suspension cylinders.

   Locate the Valve Block

   Locate the front suspension control valve manifold. Identify the specific rod-side control solenoid (often paired next to the piston-side solenoid and the pump/tank valves).

   Remove the Solenoid

   Disconnect the electrical harness from the faulty rod control solenoid. Remove the retaining nut and slide the solenoid coil off the valve stem. (If the valve cartridge itself is damaged, you will need to relieve hydraulic pressure before unscrewing the cartridge).

   Install the New Part

   Slide the new solenoid coil onto the valve stem and secure it with the retaining nut.

   Reconnect and Clear

   Reconnect the electrical harness. Turn the tractor's key to the ON position and use the AFS Pro display or a diagnostic tool to clear the stored 519013-06 UCM fault code.

   Recalibrate

   Perform a front suspension calibration procedure via the cab display to ensure the UCM learns the new solenoid's electrical characteristics and sets the correct ride height.
