This typically points to a short to power in the wiring harness, an open ground circuit causing the voltage to float high, or internal failure/water ingress shorting the switch itself.

   Inspect the left rear fender switch for physical damage, cracked rubber boots, or sticking buttons. Because these switches are mounted externally, they are highly susceptible to water, dirt, and fertilizer ingress.

   Disconnect the switch and inspect the connector pins for corrosion, moisture, or bent terminals.

   Trace the wiring harness from the left fender down to the main cab harness. Look for chafing, pinched wires, or exposed insulation that could be shorting the signal wire to a 12V or 5V reference source.

   Using a multimeter, check the connector for proper ground. An open ground wire will often cause a sensor or switch signal to read as 'voltage high.'

   Test the switch itself for internal shorts. If the switch shows continuity across the signal and power pins without being pressed, the switch has failed internally.

   Power Down

   Turn off the tractor, apply the parking brake, and disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent electrical spikes during repair.

   Access the Switch

   Locate the faulty left-hand exterior inching switch on the rear fender. Depending on the exact fender trim, carefully pry the switch bezel out of the fender housing or remove the retaining screws holding the switch panel.
