Case IH 519070-03 - UCM – UCM: Rear hitch exterior top link switch left - voltage high
Issue description
The control module is receiving a voltage signal from the left rear fender hitch switch that exceeds the maximum expected threshold, indicating a short to power on the signal wire, an internal short within the switch, or an open circuit on the sensor ground wire.
Applies to these machines
5 machines- MAGNUM AFS Connect
- Magnum 340
- Magnum 380
- Magnum 400 AFS Connect
- Steiger AFS Connect
Check the cause
Inspect the left rear fender hitch switch for physical damage, water ingress, or dirt strikes.
Disconnect the switch and inspect the connector pins for corrosion, bent terminals, or moisture that could bridge the power and signal pins.
Test the ground circuit to the switch using a multimeter (an open ground is the most common cause of a voltage high code).
Test the signal wire for a short to voltage.
Isolate the component: with the switch disconnected, turn the key ON and check active fault codes on the AFS Pro 1200 monitor. If the code changes to 'voltage low' or 'open circuit' (04 or 05), the switch has failed internally. If it remains 'voltage high', there is a short to power in the wiring harness.
Repair steps
Power Down
Turn off the tractor, remove the key, and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical spikes.
Access the Switch
Locate the faulty left rear exterior hitch switch on the rear fender.
Disconnect
Unplug the wiring harness connector from the back of the switch.
Removal
Remove the retaining screws, clips, or locking nut holding the switch assembly to the fender housing. Pull the old switch out.
Installation
Insert the new replacement switch into the fender housing and secure it with the retaining hardware.
Reconnect
Apply a small amount of dielectric grease to the connector to prevent future moisture ingress, then plug the harness back into the switch.
Clear Codes & Test
Reconnect the battery. Turn the key ON and navigate to the 'Faults and Warnings' menu on the AFS Pro 1200 display to verify the code has moved from 'Active' to 'Inactive'. Clear the inactive code.
Operational Test
Stand clear of the implement area and test the left rear fender switch to ensure the 3-point hitch raises and lowers smoothly.
