Case IH 519071-02 - UCM – UCM: Rear hitch exterior top link switch right - invalid voltage

The control module is receiving an out-of-range, erratic, or invalid voltage signal from the right-hand exterior fender switch used to control the hydraulic top link of the rear 3-point hitch. This is typically caused by water ingress into the switch, a stuck button, corroded connector pins, or a wiring harness short/open circuit between the fender and the module.

   Inspect the right rear fender switch for physical damage, cracked rubber boots, or buttons that are physically stuck in the depressed position.

   Disconnect the switch on the right fender and inspect the electrical connector for water ingress, green corrosion, or pushed-back pins.

   Using a multimeter, check the wiring harness running from the right fender switch to the UCM for continuity. Test for shorts to ground or shorts to power (12V).

   Test the switch itself for proper resistance/continuity when the extend and retract buttons are pressed and released. If the switch reads an open circuit when pressed or has continuity when resting, the switch has failed internally.

   Power Down

   Turn off the tractor, remove the key, and disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent electrical spikes.

   Access the Switch

   Locate the right rear fender switch panel. Depending on the fender extension style, carefully pry the switch bezel out or remove the retaining screws holding the switch housing to the fender.

   Disconnect

   Unplug the wiring harness connector from the back of the top link switch.

   Clean and Prep

   If the harness connector shows mild corrosion, clean it with electrical contact cleaner and a soft brush. If the connector is melted or severely corroded, the pigtail will need to be spliced and replaced.

   Remove the Faulty Switch

   Depress the retaining tabs on the sides of the switch body and push it out through the front of the bezel/panel.

   Install the New Switch

   Snap the new OEM switch into the panel.

   Reconnect

   Apply a small amount of dielectric grease to the electrical connector to prevent future moisture intrusion, then plug it into the new switch.

   Reassemble

   Secure the switch panel back onto the right rear fender.

   Test and Clear

   Reconnect the battery. Turn the ignition on and use the Case IH EST (Electronic Service Tool) or the in-cab AFS Pro monitor to clear the inactive 519071-02 fault code. Test the right fender switch to ensure the top link extends and retracts properly.
