Case IH 519076-06 - UCM – UCM: Rear hitch top link retract solenoid current high
Issue description
The control module has detected an overcurrent condition or a short to ground on the circuit responsible for the rear hitch top link retract solenoid.
Applies to these machines
4 machines- MAGNUM AFS Connect
- Puma
- Maxxum
- Steiger
Check the cause
Identify the circuit for the Link Level Top Link Retract Solenoid, designated as Wire 4056 (White / WH)
Inspect Wire 4056 between the UCM and the rear hitch hydraulic valve block for chafing, pinched wires, or melted insulation
Disconnect the top link retract solenoid and measure its internal resistance with a multimeter (a reading of zero or near-zero ohms indicates the solenoid coil is internally shorted)
Inspect the harness connectors at both the solenoid and the UCM for water ingress, corrosion, or bent pins that could be bridging the circuit to ground
Repair steps
Power Down
Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery to prevent further electrical damage to the UCM.
Locate the Component
Locate the rear hitch hydraulic control valve block at the rear of the tractor. Identify the specific solenoid for the 'Top Link Retract' function (associated with the white 4056 wire).
Isolate the Fault
If the wiring harness (Wire 4056) is shorted to the chassis, repair the damaged section of the harness using OEM-approved weather-sealed splices, or replace the harness section. If the wiring tests good but the solenoid fails the resistance test, the solenoid itself is the culprit.
Replace the Solenoid
Remove the retaining nut/clip holding the shorted solenoid coil to the hydraulic valve cartridge. Slide the old coil off and install the replacement.
Reassemble and Test
Reconnect the electrical harness, reconnect the battery, and clear the inactive 519076-06 fault code from the UCM via the AFS Pro monitor or diagnostic tool. Test the rear hitch top link retract function to verify the repair.
