519081-05 - UCM

Case IH 519081-05 - UCM – UCM: Rear hitch raise solenoid - Current Below Normal or Open Circuit

Issue description

The control module is detecting that the electrical current flowing to the rear hitch raise solenoid is lower than the predefined minimum limit, which typically points to a broken wire, an unplugged connector, or a burnt-out (open) solenoid coil.

Applies to these machines

  • MAGNUM AFS Connect
  • Case IH 5120
  • Case IH 5130
  • Case IH 5140
  • Case IH 5150
  • Case IH 5220
  • Case IH 5230
  • Case IH 5240
  • Case IH 5250
  • Case IH MX100
  • Case IH MX110
  • Case IH MX120
  • Case IH MX135
  • Case IH MX150
  • Case IH MX170
  • Case IH Steiger / Quadtrac 9380

Check the cause

  1. Visual Inspection: Inspect the wiring harness leading to the rear hitch raise solenoid on the rear hydraulic valve block. Look for broken wires, rubbed-through insulation, or disconnected plugs.

  2. Connector Check: Disconnect the solenoid harness and inspect the terminals (e.g., Female Nickel 0.50 - 1.00mm terminals) for corrosion, pushed-out pins, or moisture.

  3. Coil Resistance Test: Use a multimeter to measure the resistance across the pins of the rear hitch raise solenoid. If the reading is 'OL' (Open Loop) or infinite resistance, the internal coil is burnt out and the solenoid must be replaced.

  4. Harness Continuity Test: If the solenoid tests good, check the continuity of the wiring harness from the solenoid connector back to the UCM to verify there are no breaks in the wire.

Repair steps

  1. Power Down

Turn off the tractor, remove the key, and allow the system to depressurize.

  2. Locate the Solenoid

Locate the rear hitch raise solenoid on the hydraulic control valve stack at the rear of the machine.

  3. Disconnect Wiring

Unplug the electrical connector from the faulty solenoid.

  4. Remove the Solenoid Coil

Remove the retaining nut or fastener holding the solenoid coil to the hydraulic valve cartridge. Slide the old coil off the stem.

  5. Install New Part

Slide the new replacement solenoid coil onto the valve cartridge and secure it with the retaining nut.

  6. Reconnect and Test

Reconnect the electrical harness. Turn the key on, clear the inactive fault codes from the UCM, and test the rear hitch raise function to ensure the code does not return.
