Case IH 519120-03 - VCM – VCM: R3 transmission control lever position signal voltage high (Tensão alta no sinal de posição da alavanca de controle da transmissão R3)
Issue description
The control module is detecting an abnormally high voltage on the signal circuit for the "Reverse 3" (R3) position of the transmission control lever. This typically indicates a short to power in the wiring harness, a disconnected sensor, or an internal failure within the control lever's position sensor/potentiometer.

Check the cause
Inspect the wiring harness connecting the Multi-Function Handle (MFH) to the VCM. Look for chafed wires, pinched harnesses in the armrest pivot points, or damaged connectors.
Disconnect the MFH connector and the VCM connector. Inspect the pins for corrosion, moisture, or pushed-back terminals.
Connect the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST) to the diagnostic port (CAN1/ISOBUS) and monitor the live voltage data for the transmission control lever position.
Isolate the short: If the EST shows a high voltage (usually near 5V) while the lever is at rest, disconnect the MFH. If the voltage immediately drops to 0V, the short to power is internal to the Multi-Function Handle. If the voltage remains high, the signal wire in the armrest harness is shorted to a power source and must be traced and repaired.
Repair steps
Power Down
Turn off the ignition and switch off the main battery isolator switch to prevent electrical spikes.
Access the Handle
Remove the plastic trim covers and retaining screws on the right-hand armrest console to expose the base of the Multi-Function Handle.
Disconnect
Carefully unplug the main electrical harness connector at the base of the MFH.
Remove
Remove the mounting bolts/screws securing the MFH assembly to the armrest bracket and lift the handle out.
Install
Seat the new Multi-Function Handle into the armrest bracket and secure it with the mounting hardware.
Reconnect
Plug in the electrical harness connector, ensuring the locking tab clicks into place.
Reassemble
Reinstall the armrest trim covers.
Calibrate
Turn on the battery isolator and key switch. Connect the EST and clear the inactive 519120-03 fault code. Depending on the exact software version, you may need to run a calibration routine for the new MFH via the EST or the Pro 1200 display so the VCM learns the new sensor voltage sweeps.
