Case IH 519572-09 - UCM – UCM: Steering valve controller calibration fault

Issue description

Indicates that the calibration process for the steering valve controller has failed, or the stored calibration data is missing, corrupted, or out of range.

Applies to these machines

  • MAGNUM AFS Connect
  • AFS Connect Magnum (Models 180, 200, 220, 240, 250, 280, 310, 340, 380 with CVT or Full Power Shift)
  • Vestrum CVX Series (Models 100, 110, 120, 130)
  • OPTUM Series (Models 250, 270, 300)
  • MAXXUM Series
  • TERRUS Series (Models 6250, 6270, 6300)
  • T5 DynamicCommand/AutoCommand Series
  • Axial-Flow Midrange Combines (Models 5140, 6140, 7140, 5150, 6150, 7150)
  • Early Riser Series Planters (Models 2130, 2140, 2150, 2160)

Check the cause

  1. Check for related active faults for the CAN wheel angle sensor (e.g., signal crosscheck failures, open/short circuits) or CAN communication failures between the steering valve controller and the steering wheel sensor, as these prevent successful calibration.

  2. Verify UCM power and ground at pins 22 and 24. Missing power or ground will cause software operations and downloads to fail.

  3. Check the software versions of the UCM and the Steering Valve Controller (SVC). Outdated software can cause calibration checksum errors.

Repair steps

  1. Connect diagnostic tool

Connect the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST) to the machine's diagnostic port.

  2. Navigate to module

Navigate to the UCM / Steering Valve Controller module.

  3. Update software

If the software is outdated, flash the UCM and Steering Valve Controller (SVC) to the latest software version (e.g., SVC software version 2.02).

  4. Initiate calibration

Initiate the steering valve calibration wizard via the EST or the in-cab Pro 700/1200 display.

  5. Complete calibration

Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the calibration. Ensure the machine is on level ground and the steering system is free of physical obstructions during the process.

  6. Verify repair

Clear the fault codes and cycle the key to verify code 519572-09 does not return.
