Case IH 519572-13 - UCM – UCM: Out of Calibration

Issue description

The steering valve controller has lost its calibration data, the calibration values have become corrupt, or a calibration procedure was interrupted or failed to complete successfully.

Applies to these machines

  • MAGNUM AFS Connect
  • Magnum
  • Steiger
  • T8
  • T9
  • Maxxum
  • 7230
  • 8250
  • 6130

Check the cause

  1. Ensure the vehicle is at normal operating temperature and the engine speed is set above 1500–1600 RPM.

  2. Verify that the UCM, Nav controller, and AFS Pro 700/1200 displays are all running compatible firmware versions.

  3. Ensure the correct vehicle profile is loaded in the display. If corrupted, load a default/different profile, exit, and then reload the correct vehicle model.

  4. Check the Wheel Angle Sensor (WAS) and wheel speed sensors.

  5. Verify that the roading switch is ON and the guidance enable (ISB) switch is pressed for at least half a second.

  6. Check the harness connections to the steering solenoids for open circuits or shorts to power.

Repair steps

  1. Prepare the Machine

Warm up the hydraulic fluid to operating temperature and throttle the engine above 1500 RPM.

  2. Initiate Calibration

Navigate to the steering valve calibration screen on the AFS Pro display.

  3. Run the Procedure

Follow the on-screen prompts to calibrate the left and right steering valves. Note for Combines: It is normal not to see actual wheel movement during the steering valve calibration process on flagship combines.

  4. Save and Exit

Properly exit the calibration procedure before turning off the key. Removing power from the controller during storage of these values will corrupt the memory and trigger the fault code again.

  5. Test

Clear the fault code, cycle the key switch, and operate the tractor.

  6. Replace if Failed

If the fault code immediately returns or the calibration repeatedly fails despite good sensors and wiring, the UCM memory has failed or the steering valve is defective and must be replaced. If a component is replaced, you must perform a new calibration on a new vehicle profile.
