Case IH 519575-02 - UCM – UCM: Steering valve controller calibration fault

This fault indicates that the control module has detected an invalid, missing, or failed calibration of the steering valve controller. The system requires a valid calibration to ensure the steering valve's hydraulic responses accurately match the electrical commands from the autoguidance and steering systems.

   Ensure the machine's hydraulic oil is at normal operating temperature, as cold oil is a primary cause of calibration failure.

   Measure the steering cylinder rod length to ensure mechanical alignment; it must be equal (within ¼ inch) on both sides. Adjust mechanical linkage if necessary.

   Check the diagnostic menu for active Wheel Angle Sensor (WAS) faults, steering valve power/voltage faults (e.g., coil current out of range), or missing CANbus messages. Resolve these before attempting calibration.

   Warm up hydraulic system

   Start the tractor and warm up the hydraulic system to operating temperature.

   Position the tractor

   Drive the tractor to a wide-open, flat area. (Some models may require the front wheels to be lifted off the ground to remove resistance during the valve sweep; refer to your specific model's operator manual).

   Access in-cab display

   Access the in-cab display (e.g., AFS Pro 1200 or Pro 700).

   Navigate to Calibration menu

   Navigate to the Calibration menu: TOOLBOX > CALIBRATION > CALIBR.

   Select Steering Valve Calibration.

   Execute calibration

   Follow the on-screen prompts to execute the calibration sequence. The system will automatically sweep the steering to learn the valve's electrical thresholds.

   Finalize successful calibration

   If the calibration completes successfully, cycle the key, clear the fault codes, and test the autoguidance system.

   Inspect wiring harness

   If the calibration fails repeatedly, inspect the wiring harness connecting the UCM to the steering valve for damage, corrosion, or loose pins.
