Case IH 519575-13 - UCM – UCM: Steering valve controller calibration fault
Issue description
The steering valve controller has lost its calibration data, the steering deadzone calibration is out of range, or the system requires a seasonal re-calibration to function properly with the autoguidance system.
Applies to these machines
7 machines- MAGNUM AFS Connect
- AFS Connect Magnum Tractors (Models 180, 200, 220, 240, 250, 280, 310, 340, 380)
- Case IH Steiger
- Case IH Puma
- Case IH Maxxum
- Case IH Flagship Combines
- Case IH Mid Range Common Cab Combines
Check the cause
Ensure the hydraulic fluid is at normal operating temperature, as cold oil will cause calibration failures
Measure the steering cylinder rod length to ensure it is within 1/4 inch on both sides, adjusting mechanically if needed
Verify that the Guidance Enable Switch is set to ENABLE (cycle OFF/ON after engine start if needed)
Verify that the steering valve is ENABLED (YES) in the HH Menu / H3
Check the display and Nav controller firmware versions for compatibility issues, particularly on Tier 4A Magnums with Class V front axles
Repair steps
Warm Up
Start the vehicle and warm up the hydraulic fluid to normal operating temperature.
Navigate to Calibration
On the Pro 700 / AFS display, go to TOOLBOX > CALIBRATION > CALIBR.
Rear Wheel Position Calibration
Drive the machine straight (guidance engaged is preferred). Press OK to save the center position.
Steering Valve Calibration
Select the Steering Valve deadzone calibration. It is recommended to use the 'Auto Cal' automatic process.
Execution
Perform one coarse calibration, followed by three fine calibrations. Caution: The machine will turn its own wheels abruptly during the Steering Proportional Gain calibration. Ensure the area is clear.
Dealer Verification
If the calibration repeatedly fails, the steering valve or controller may be defective. Replacement of the valve requires a mandatory pre-calibration of the valve and Wheel Angle Sensor (WAS) by a CNH dealer using the Electronic Service Tool (EST).
