Case IH 519576-31 - UCM – UCM: Steering valve controller calibration fault
Issue description
Indicates that the automated steering valve has failed its calibration process, lost its calibration values, or has not yet been calibrated.
Applies to these machines
5 machines- MAGNUM AFS Connect
- Case IH Magnum AFS Connect series
- Case IH Puma series
- Case IH Steiger / Quadtrac series
- Case IH Flagship & Mid-Range Combines
Check the cause
Ensure hydraulic fluid is at normal operating temperature (cold oil will cause the calibration to fail)
Verify that the Wheel Angle Sensor (WAS) is properly connected, pre-calibrated, and registering counts (left/center/right) in the diagnostic screen
Measure the steering cylinder rod length; it must be within 1/4 inch on both sides (adjust if necessary)
Ensure the steering valve is ENABLED (YES) in the display settings (e.g., HH Menu / H3) and that the controller firmware is up to date
Verify that the manual override (kick-out) works correctly when the steering wheel is turned manually
Repair steps
Move the machine to a wide-open, flat area
The vehicle will steer itself during this process.
Warm up the vehicle
Drive or operate it until the hydraulic oil reaches normal operating temperature.
Navigate to the calibration menu on your display
e.g., CALIBRATION > CALIBR on the Pro 700, or the ISObus diagnostic page/Steering settings on the Pro 1200.
Select the Steering Valve Calibration
Or Automated Steering Deadzone.
Engage the autoguidance system
Use the remote engage button on the armrest or joystick.
Follow the on-screen prompts
The system will perform one coarse calibration followed by three fine calibrations. Caution: The wheels will move abruptly during the proportional gain calibration.
Save the calibration
Once the status indicator turns fully green, save the calibration.
