Case IH 520197-06 - PCM – PCM: USB-1 Over Current

The system has detected an electrical current draw on USB Port 1 that exceeds the maximum safe limit. This is typically caused by a faulty USB device, a damaged charging cable, debris inside the USB port causing a short, or a pinched wiring harness.

   Unplug all external devices, flash drives, phone charging cables, or aftermarket accessories from the cab USB ports.

   Visually inspect the USB-1 port with a light for dirt, metallic debris, or bent pins that could be bridging the power and ground contacts.

   Clear the fault code via the AFS Pro 1200 display and retest to see if the issue was the plugged-in device.

   Inspect the USB extension harness running from the cab USB receptacle to the PCM for pinched wires behind the trim panels.

   Remove the source of the short

   If a specific device or charging cable caused the overcurrent, discard the faulty cable or device and clear the code.

   Replace the USB receptacle

   If the physical USB port in the cab is damaged or has bent pins shorting out, replace the cab USB receptacle and cable assembly.

   Repair or replace the harness

   If the wiring between the cab port and the PCM is chafed or pinched against the cab frame, repair the damaged wiring or replace the USB harness.

   Replace the PCM

   If the USB port is empty, the wiring harness tests good with no shorts to ground or power, and the code remains active, the internal USB-1 power circuit inside the PCM has failed. The PCM will need to be replaced and reprogrammed by a dealer.
