Case IH 5202 – UCM (Universal Control Module): Left Joystick Right-Left Axis Pin B Open Or Shorted To Ground Or Power

The machine's control system has detected an electrical circuit failure on the "Pin B" signal wire for the left-to-right movement axis of the left-hand joystick. The underlying condition is either an open circuit (broken wire/disconnected plug), a short to ground (bare wire touching the chassis), or a short to power (wire crossed with a voltage source).

   Continuity Test: Use a multimeter to test the continuity of the Pin B circuit between the joystick connector and the UCM.

   Short Circuit Test: Test the Pin B wire for a short to ground (check for continuity to the machine's chassis) or a short to power (check for unexpected voltage when the key is on).

   UCM Connection: Ensure the main connectors at the Universal Control Module are securely seated and free of debris.

   Turn off the machine, lower all loader arms to the ground, and disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent electrical spikes.

   Ensure the machine is safe to work on before beginning the joystick replacement.

   Remove the left-hand console or armrest covers to expose the base and mounting hardware of the left joystick.

   This provides access to the joystick assembly.
