Case IH 520200-19 - VCM – VCM: Loss of communication between the steering valve controller and the vehicle speed sensor
Issue description
The steering controller never received the vehicle speed sensor signal (such as a boot-up timeout) or that the received network data contained an error.

Check the cause
Check the controller's parameter settings (such as VSP source address, automobile rank, and gear ratio) to ensure they are correct and have not been lost
Inspect the physical installation state of the vehicle speed sensor, paying close attention to the sensor gap
Verify that the vehicle speed sensor is receiving power and ensure the PVED-CLS controller's supply voltage is stable (fluctuations below 9V can cause faults)
Check the CAN Bus wiring and harness connections to ensure the vehicle speed sensor is physically communicating with the network
Repair steps
Verify Parameters
Check the parameter settings in the controller. If they are abnormal, set the parameters again.
Adjust Sensor Gap
Inspect the vehicle speed sensor installation. If the installation is abnormal, adjust the sensor gap and mount it correctly.
Repair Wiring
Fix any broken wires or loose CAN bus connections between the speed sensor and the VCM/PVED-CLS controller.
Replace Sensor
If the wiring is intact, the parameters are correct, and the gap is adjusted but the fault persists, replace the vehicle speed sensor.
Bleed the Steering System
If any hydraulic steering components were disturbed, bleed all air from the steering system by turning the steering wheel fully left and fully right a minimum of 10 times.
Calibrate
Perform a steering calibration routine. This must be done on a hard, on-road surface such as unpainted concrete or asphalt.
