Case IH 520210-19 - VCM – UCM: Cut-off solenoid disagreement

Issue description

The control module is detecting a mismatch between the commanded state of the steering/road travel cut-off solenoid and the actual electrical feedback or physical switch position.

Applies to these machines

  • MAGNUM AFS Connect
  • Magnum 400 AFS Connect (Tier 3)

Check the cause

  1. Verify the physical road travel switch in the cab to ensure it is not sticking and is transitioning correctly between open and closed states

  2. Inspect the wiring harness between the UCM, the steering valve controller, and the cut-off solenoid for continuity, shorts to ground, or open circuits

  3. Test the cut-off solenoid coil resistance to ensure it is within OEM specifications and not internally shorted or open

Repair steps

  1. Disconnect battery power before servicing the UCM or steering valve circuits.

  2. Replace the road travel switch if it fails continuity testing.

  3. Replace the cut-off solenoid on the steering valve if the coil is out of specification or mechanically stuck.

  4. Repair any damaged pins or chafed wires in the UCM harness leading to the steering valve controller.

  5. Clear the UCM fault codes via the AFS Pro monitor or Case IH EST (Electronic Service Tool) and test-drive the tractor to verify the disagreement code does not return.
