Case IH 520224-25 - VCM – UCM / VCM: Steering valve controller steering control interface signal disagreement
Issue description
The control module is receiving conflicting, implausible, or mismatched signals between the steering valve controller and the steering control interface (such as the steering wheel sensor or flow command interface).
Applies to these machines

Check the cause
Inspect the wiring harness between the Steering Valve Controller, the steering control interface (steering wheel sensor), and the UCM/VCM for physical damage, corrosion, or loose pins.
Check for related accompanying fault codes (such as 520228, 520217, or 520213) that might isolate the issue.
Verify that the Steering Valve Controller (SVC) and Steering Redundant Controller (SRC) are running the correct software versions (e.g., version 2.02).
Repair steps
Power Down
Disconnect battery power before servicing the electro-hydraulic steering system to prevent accidental actuation or electrical shorts.
Harness Testing
Perform a continuity and voltage test on the wiring harness connecting the steering control interface to the steering valve controller. Repair any open or short circuits.
Component Replacement
If the wiring is intact but the signal disagreement persists, replace the faulty steering control interface sensor or the electro-hydraulic steering valve assembly.
System Calibration
After replacing steering components or resolving sensor plausibility faults, you must perform a steering system calibration using the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST) to relearn the valve deadbands and sensor parameters.
