Case IH 520233-14 - VCM – UCM (Universal Control Module / User Control Module): Incorrect controller configuration

The module has lost its configuration, has not been programmed correctly for the specific tractor's Product Identification Number (PIN), or has a software version mismatch.

   Verify module identity to determine if the fault is coming from UCM1 or UCM2 (many AFS Connect machines utilize dual Universal Control Modules)

   Check recent service history to see if the UCM was recently replaced, received an over-the-air (OTA) update, or was recently flashed by a dealer

   Connect the CNH Electronic Service Tool (EST) and check the CAN bus network (VB1) to ensure the UCM is communicating and to read its current software payload version

   Connect EST

   Connect the CNH Electronic Service Tool (EST) to the machine's diagnostic port.

   Navigate to UCM

   Navigate to the UCM in the EST module list.

   Check software part number

   Check the current software part number (e.g., APP software 91770788 or similar) against the factory build data for the tractor's specific PIN.

   Flash software payload

   If the configuration is corrupt or blank, use the EST to download and flash the correct software payload to the UCM.

   Perform module configuration

   Perform a module configuration routine to ensure the UCM recognizes the specific optional equipment installed on the tractor (e.g., PTO, auxiliary valves, radar).

   Cycle power and clear code

   Cycle the key power, clear the inactive 520233-14 fault code, and verify that the code does not return.

   Replace UCM

   If the module refuses to take the flash or fails internally, the physical UCM must be replaced.
