Case IH 520242-13 - VCM – UCM: Incorrect controller configuration

The control module has an invalid configuration, meaning its programmed parameters do not match the physical machine's configuration, the software is mismatched, or the module has lost its programming.

   Connect the Case IH EST to the tractor's diagnostic port.

   Verify that the EST is communicating on the J1939 CAN bus.

   Check for any active software mismatches between the UCM/VCM and the tractor's instrumentation display.

   Verify that the correct vehicle model, PIN (Product Identification Number), and equipment options are selected in the EST configuration profile.

   Navigate to programming window

   Open the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST) and navigate to the PROGRAMMING window.

   Set up controllers for downloading

   Click on the SET UP CONTROLLERS FOR DOWNLOADING button and follow the on-screen instructions.

   Select controller

   In the Controller Selection table, select the UCM (or VCM).

   Record software ID

   Click on the View Controller Information button. Find and record the current software ID.

   Flash controller

   Flash the controller with the correct configuration encoded file for your specific tractor PIN.

   Reboot module

   Cycle the key to save the enhanced vehicle status and reboot the module.

   Replace module if necessary

   If the module refuses to accept the configuration file, drops off the CAN bus, or has an internal hardware failure, the module must be physically replaced and the new module programmed using the same EST procedure.
