Case IH 520330-06 - BCM – BCM (Body Control Module): BCM CAN Bus B - curto com B+ (Short to Battery Positive / B+)

Critical communication failure on the CAN Bus B network due to a wiring short. The network is either shorted to a power source (06) or shorted to the chassis ground (14), which corrupts the data packets and prevents modules on this bus from communicating.

   Verify the Exact Code: Confirm whether the code is -06 (Short to Power) or -14 (Short to Ground) to guide your multimeter testing.

   Voltage Check: Using a multimeter, probe the CAN_H and CAN_L pins on the CAN Bus B diagnostic port or at the BCM connector. Normal CAN voltage fluctuates around 2.5V. If you see ~12V, it confirms a short to battery positive (06). If you see 0V with no fluctuation, it confirms a short to ground (14).

   Harness Inspection: Visually inspect the CAN Bus B wiring harness for chafing, pinched wires, or melted insulation, particularly where the harness routes near the cab suspension components, transmission housing, or battery isolator.

   Module Isolation (Drop Test): Disconnect modules located on CAN Bus B one at a time. If the shorted voltage disappears after unplugging a specific module, that module has an internal short and needs replacement. If the short remains with all modules unplugged, the wiring harness itself is shorted.

   Disconnect Power

   Turn off the master battery disconnect switch and remove the negative battery cable to prevent electrical arcing or further module damage.

   Isolate the Short

   Based on the module drop test, trace the specific segment of the CAN Bus B harness that is shorted.

   Repair the Harness

   If a wire is chafed and touching the chassis (ground) or a 12V power wire, cut out the damaged section. Splice in a new section of twisted-pair CAN wire. Solder the connections and seal them with marine-grade, adhesive-lined heat shrink tubing to prevent moisture ingress.

   Replace the BCM (If Internally Shorted)

   If the harness tests perfectly and the short originates from the BCM pins, the BCM must be replaced. Remove the mounting bolts and electrical connectors from the old BCM and install the new unit.

   Reprogramming

   A new BCM is not plug-and-play. It must be flashed with the correct software dataset for your specific tractor's PIN (Product Identification Number) using the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST).

   Clear Codes

   Reconnect the battery, turn the key on, and use the diagnostic tool to clear the inactive 520330-06/14 codes. Cycle the key to ensure the code does not return.
