Case IH 520438-05 - BCM – BCM: Field light memory 1 recall indicator - open circuit
Issue description
The control module is trying to send a signal to the field light memory recall indicator, but the electrical circuit is broken, disconnected, or has too much resistance.
Applies to these machines
3 machines- MAGNUM AFS Connect
- Magnum series tractors
- MAGNUM 220 - AFS CONNECT - T4B PST
Check the cause
Locate the Field Light Memory Recall Switch inside the cab and visually inspect the wiring harness for physical damage, chafing, or severed wires.
Disconnect the 10-cavity electrical connector at the switch and check for loose, backed-out, or heavily corroded terminals.
Using a multimeter, check for continuity on the signal and ground wires between the BCM and the switch connector to pinpoint the open circuit.
Repair steps
Disconnect power
Turn off the machine and disconnect the battery to prevent short circuits while working on the BCM wiring.
Repair wiring and terminals
If a wire is broken in the harness, splice and seal the wire using appropriate automotive-grade connectors. If the terminals inside the switch connector are corroded or loose, use a depinning tool to remove the damaged terminals and crimp new female silver terminals (OEM Part # 51445673) onto the wires.
Replace connector housing
If the plastic connector housing is cracked or no longer holds the pins securely, transfer the pinned wires into a new 10-cavity connector housing (OEM Part # 504267867).
Reassemble and test
Plug the connector back into the Field Light Memory Recall Switch. Reconnect the battery, turn the key on, and clear the inactive fault codes from the BCM. Test the field light memory function to ensure the indicator illuminates and the code does not return.
