Check the cause
Check the Switch Power Supply: Using a multimeter, check for 12 volts at the rear wiper/washer switch connector to see if a short blew a fuse or damaged the switch.
Harness Short-to-Ground Test: Disconnect the electrical connector at the rear wiper/washer motor and measure continuity between the power supply wire in the harness and a known good chassis ground.
Motor Internal Short Test: Check the resistance across the pins on the motor itself to identify an internal dead short in the motor windings.
Inspect Connectors: Check the inline cab connectors and the BCM output pins for water intrusion, corrosion, or melted plastic.
Repair steps
Power Down
Turn off the tractor ignition and disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent further electrical damage.
Access the Motor
Locate the rear wiper/washer motor assembly on the rear cab window. Remove the protective plastic cover (often held by screws or clips).
Disconnect Wiring & Hoses
Unplug the electrical connector from the motor. If replacing the washer component, disconnect the washer fluid hose from the nozzle/motor assembly.
Remove the Wiper Arm
Lift the plastic cap on the base of the exterior rear wiper arm, remove the retaining nut, and pull the wiper arm off the splined shaft.
Dismount the Motor
Remove the large retaining nut on the outside of the glass and the mounting bracket screws on the inside. Carefully extract the motor assembly from the window glass.
Install the New Part
Insert the new motor through the glass, ensuring the rubber grommets/seals are seated properly to prevent cab leaks. Tighten the interior bracket screws and the exterior retaining nut.
Reassembly
Reattach the wiper arm to the splined shaft and secure the nut. Reconnect the washer fluid line and the electrical connector. Reinstall the interior plastic cover.
Test and Clear Codes
Reconnect the battery. Turn the key on and test the rear wiper/washer function. Use a diagnostic tool to clear the 520561-06 code from the BCM memory.
