520562-14 - BCM

Case IH 520562-14 - BCM – BCM: Invalid input voltage from the Left hand door ajar switch

Issue description

The control module monitors the voltage signal from the left hand door ajar switch to determine if the cab door is open or closed. An invalid input voltage means the signal received falls outside the expected normal operating range. This typically points to a short circuit, an open circuit, high resistance in the wiring, or an internal failure of the switch itself.

Applies to these machines

  • MAGNUM AFS Connect
  • Magnum 220 AFS Connect
  • Magnum 295 AFS Connect
  • Magnum 340 AFS Connect
  • Magnum 400 AFS Connect

Check the cause

  1. Inspect the left-hand door ajar switch (located on the door jamb) and its electrical connector for physical damage, moisture intrusion, corrosion, or loose pins.

  2. Trace the wiring harness from the door switch to the BCM. Pay special attention to the door hinge area for pinched, chafed, or broken wires.

  3. Disconnect the switch and use a digital multimeter to test for continuity across the switch terminals while manually pressing and releasing the switch plunger to verify open/closed states.

  4. With the switch disconnected, turn the key on and check for proper reference voltage and ground at the harness connector coming from the BCM.

Repair steps

  1. Disconnect battery power

Turn off the tractor ignition, remove the key, and disconnect battery power to prevent shorting any BCM circuits during repair.

  2. Access door switch

Access the left-hand door switch on the cab frame/jamb.

  3. Disconnect connector

Carefully disconnect the electrical connector from the switch.

  4. Remove faulty switch

If the switch failed the continuity test, remove the retaining hardware (nut or screws) and extract the faulty switch.

  5. Install new switch

Install the new OEM door switch and secure it in place.

  6. Reconnect connector

Reconnect the electrical connector, ensuring the weather seal is intact and the connector clicks securely.

  7. Repair wiring (if applicable)

If the diagnostic tests revealed damaged wiring instead of a faulty switch, repair the broken/shorted wire using appropriate weather-sealed splice connectors, or replace the affected section of the lower cab harness.

  8. Restore power

Reconnect battery power and turn on the ignition.

  9. Clear DTCs

Clear the inactive DTCs from the BCM using a diagnostic scan tool.

  10. Test repair

Test the repair by opening and closing the left door; verify that the cab dome light turns on/off appropriately and that code 520562-14 does not return.
