Case IH 520564-05 - BCM – BCM: Cab right wiper motor - open circuit

The control module is attempting to send power to the right-hand cab window wiper motor, but it is not detecting the expected electrical continuity (current flow). An "open circuit" is typically caused by a broken wire, a disconnected or corroded wiring harness plug, a blown fuse, or a failed internal winding inside the wiper motor itself.

   Check Fuses & Relays: Locate the cab fuse panel and inspect the fuse dedicated to the right wiper motor. If blown, replace it and retest.

   Visual Inspection: Inspect the wiring harness leading to the right wiper motor. Look for chafed insulation, pinched wires, or disconnected plugs.

   Connector Check: Disconnect the plug at the right wiper motor. Check for water intrusion, green corrosion, or pushed-out pins.

   Voltage & Ground Test: With the tractor key ON and the right wiper switch activated, use a multimeter to check for 12V power at the motor connector. Verify that the ground pin has near 0 ohms of resistance to the cab chassis.

   Harness Continuity (BCM to Motor): If there is no power, disconnect the corresponding connector at the BCM and test the wire for continuity between the BCM output pin and the wiper motor plug.

   Motor Winding Test: If power and ground are present at the plug, measure the resistance across the power and ground terminals on the wiper motor itself. If it reads "OL" (Open Loop) or infinite resistance, the motor has failed internally.

   Preparation

   Turn off the tractor, remove the key, and disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent electrical shorts.

   Remove the Wiper Arm

   From the outside of the cab, lift the plastic cap at the base of the right wiper arm, remove the retaining nut, and carefully pull the wiper arm off the splined motor shaft.

   Access the Motor

   Inside the cab, remove the interior trim panel/headliner section covering the right window wiper motor assembly.

   Disconnect Electricals

   Unplug the wiring harness connector from the wiper motor.

   Remove the Motor

   Support the motor assembly and remove the mounting bolts securing the motor bracket to the cab frame. Pull the motor and shaft inward to remove it.

   Install the New Motor

   Guide the new motor's splined shaft through the cab glass/frame hole. Secure the mounting bracket with the bolts.

   Reconnect

   Plug the electrical connector back into the new motor.

   Reassembly

   Reinstall the interior trim panel. Reconnect the battery.

   Align the Wiper Arm

   Turn the key ON and cycle the wiper switch once so the new motor finds its "Park" position. Turn the key OFF, then reinstall the exterior wiper arm in the correct resting position and tighten the retaining nut.
