520565-05 - BCM

Case IH 520565-05 - BCM – BCM: Hazards indicator - open circuit

Issue description

The control module has detected a break in the electrical circuit, infinite resistance, or a disconnected component within the hazard warning indicator system.

Applies to these machines

  • MAGNUM AFS Connect
  • Magnum 310
  • Magnum 400 AFS Connect

Check the cause

  1. Inspect the hazard switch and its electrical connector on the console/dash for loose, bent, or corroded pins.

  2. Trace the wiring harness connecting the hazard switch/indicator to the BCM for breaks, chafing, or pinched wires.

  3. Perform a continuity test on the hazard indicator circuit wires between the switch and the BCM using a digital multimeter.

  4. Test the hazard switch with a multimeter to ensure it is not internally faulty and successfully closes the circuit when pressed.

Repair steps

  1. Power Down

Disconnect the tractor's battery to prevent electrical shorts or module damage during the repair.

  2. Access the Switch

Carefully remove the trim panel or console housing to access the rear of the hazard switch.

  3. Disconnect and Inspect

Unplug the wiring harness from the switch. Inspect both the male and female connector terminals. If corrosion or terminal deformation is found, clean the contacts with electrical contact cleaner or replace the damaged connector pins.

  4. Repair Wiring (If Applicable)

If the multimeter continuity test revealed a broken wire in the harness, repair the damaged section using proper automotive splicing techniques and seal it with heat shrink tubing.

  5. Replace the Switch (If Applicable)

If the wiring and connectors are intact but the switch failed the continuity test, remove the faulty switch from the bezel and snap a new OEM hazard switch into place.

  6. Reassembly

Reconnect the wiring harness to the switch and reinstall the console trim.

  7. Test and Clear

Reconnect the battery. Use a diagnostic scan tool to clear the 520565-05 fault code from the BCM. Toggle the hazard switch to verify the indicator lights function correctly and the code does not return.
