Case IH 520568-03 - BCM – BCM: Door light auto driver - short circuit to B+

The control module has detected that the output circuit responsible for automatically turning on the cab door/dome light is receiving unintended battery positive (B+) voltage. This condition is typically caused by a wiring harness shorting to a live power wire, an internally shorted door switch, or a failed driver inside the control module itself.

   Inspect the wiring harness running from the BCM to the cab roof/headliner and the door pillar for pinched wires, chafed insulation, or melted loom that could cause the door light control wire to touch a constant 12V power wire.

   Turn the ignition off, disconnect the cab interior dome light assembly and the door push-button switch, then turn the ignition back on. If the code changes from Active to Inactive or Open Circuit, the short is inside the disconnected component.

   With the door light and switch disconnected, use a multimeter to measure voltage at the door light control pin on the harness side. If it reads 12V (B+) when it should be 0V, the short is in the wiring harness.

   Disconnect the specific BCM connector containing the door light driver pin and test the harness side for continuity to B+. If there is no short in the harness, the BCM's internal driver has likely failed closed (shorted to power).

   Disconnect Power

   Disconnect the tractor's battery negative terminal to prevent further electrical damage or accidental shorts during repair.

   Access the Circuit

   Remove the necessary cab interior trim panels (A-pillar trim or headliner) to access the door switch and the dome light wiring.

   Repair Wiring (If Applicable)

   If the diagnostic checks revealed a short in the harness, locate the chafed section. Cut out the damaged wire, splice in a new section using heat-shrink butt connectors, and re-wrap the harness in protective loom.

   Replace Component (If Applicable)

   If the door switch or light assembly was internally shorted, plug in the replacement part.

   Replace BCM (If Applicable)

   If the BCM is internally shorted, unbolt the module, disconnect all harness connectors, and install the new BCM. Note: A new BCM will require programming/flashing by a Case IH dealer using the Electronic Service Tool (EST) to match the tractor's specific configuration.

   Verify Repair

   Reconnect the battery. Turn the ignition on, clear the stored fault codes, and open/close the cab door to verify the light operates correctly without triggering the 520568-03 code.
