Case IH 520575-03 - BCM – BCM: BCM: Turn light front left - short circuit to B+
Issue description
A "short circuit to B+" (Battery Positive) means that the electrical circuit controlling the front left turn signal is receiving direct battery voltage when it should not be. Instead of the module pulsing the voltage to flash the light, the wire is constantly energized. This typically indicates a wiring fault where the turn signal power wire has chafed and is touching another live wire, an internal short inside the bulb socket, or a failed internal driver inside the control module.

Check the cause
Check Battery Health: Ensure the battery is fully charged, as low voltage can sometimes cause spurious BCM electrical faults.
Visual Inspection of the Socket: Remove the front left turn signal bulb. Inspect the socket for melted plastic, water intrusion, or corroded contacts that could bridge the power and ground/signal terminals.
Harness Isolation Test (Wire Test): Turn the ignition off. Disconnect the plug at the front left turn signal and the connector at the BCM. Turn the ignition on. Probe the turn signal supply wire with a multimeter. If it reads voltage (near 12V), the wire is shorted to another power wire somewhere in the harness.
Wiggle Test: While monitoring the multimeter, wiggle the wiring harness along its routing path (especially near pinch points, cab pivot points, or hot engine components) to see if the voltage fluctuates, which will help pinpoint the short.
Repair steps
Disconnect Power
Always disconnect the negative battery terminal before performing electrical repairs to prevent further module damage.
Repair the Harness (If shorted)
If the isolation test revealed voltage on the wire, trace the harness to find the chafed or melted section. Cut out the damaged wire, solder in a new section of wire of the same gauge, seal it with marine-grade heat shrink, and re-loom the harness.
Replace the Socket (If damaged)
If the bulb socket is melted or internally shorted, splice in a new OEM pigtail/socket assembly.
Replace the BCM (If wiring is good)
If the wiring harness and socket test perfectly fine (no continuity to power when disconnected), the internal driver inside the BCM has likely shorted closed. The BCM will need to be replaced and reprogrammed/flashed by a dealer to match the tractor's configuration.
Reassembly and Clearing Codes
Reconnect the battery, clear the inactive fault codes using a diagnostic tool, and test the turn signal operation.
