520602-06 - BCM

Case IH 520602-06 - BCM – Body Control Module (BCM): Work Lamp #2 - Current below normal or grounded circuit

Issue description

The system has detected a short circuit to ground on the Work Lamp #2 circuit. The power wire supplying voltage to the lamp is making direct contact with a ground source before reaching the bulb, causing the control module to disable the circuit.

Applies to these machines

  • MAGNUM AFS Connect
  • Magnum series
  • Steiger series
  • Puma
  • Maxxum
  • Optum
  • Axial-Flow 7250
  • Axial-Flow 8250
  • Axial-Flow 9250

Check the cause

  1. Visually inspect the Work Lamp #2 assembly for cracked lenses, water intrusion, or melted plastic.

  2. Isolate the short by turning the ignition OFF, disconnecting the electrical connector at Work Lamp #2, and turning the ignition ON to recheck active fault codes. If the code changes to FMI 05 (Open Circuit), the short is inside the lamp assembly. If it remains FMI 06, the short is in the wiring harness.

  3. Perform a harness continuity test with the battery disconnected. Use a multimeter to test the power supply pin on the harness connector for continuity to ground, tracing the wiring back to the BCM and checking pinch points near cab hinges, ROPS frames, and fender brackets.

Repair steps

  1. Disconnect Power

Turn off the ignition and disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent electrical spikes during repair.

  2. Address the Component

If the lamp is internally shorted: Unbolt the mounting bracket hardware, remove the faulty work lamp, and install the replacement assembly. If the harness is shorted: Locate the chafed or pinched section of the wire. Cut out the damaged section, solder in a new piece of wire of the same gauge, and seal it with marine-grade heat shrink tubing. Secure the harness with zip ties away from sharp metal edges.

  3. Reassemble

Reconnect the work lamp electrical connector. Ensure the weather-pack seal is seated correctly to prevent moisture ingress.

  4. Test and Clear

Reconnect the battery. Turn the ignition ON and activate the work lamps. Verify the lamp illuminates. Access the diagnostic menu on the A-post or Pro 700/1200 display to clear the inactive 520602-06 fault code.
