Case IH 520608-02 - ACM – Armrest Control Module (ACM): Rear hitch raise switch circuit fault

Issue description

Indicates an electrical circuit malfunction (such as an open circuit, short to ground, or short to power) associated with the rear hitch raise switch located on the Multi-Function Handle (MFH).

Check the cause

  1. Check for other Armrest Control Module (ACM) error codes. Make a note of them, clear the codes, and test the system for normal operation to see if the fault returns.

  2. Use the Electronic Service Tool (EST) or the tractor's diagnostic menu to monitor input d6 (MFH - Rear hitch raise switch) to see if the ACM is recognizing the button press.

  3. Inspect all Armrest Control Module and Tractor Control Unit (TCU) connectors. Ensure the connectors are fully seated, not damaged, and that the pins are in the correct position with a tight fit.

Repair steps

  1. Clear and Retest

Clear the stored fault codes in the ACM and operate the rear hitch raise switch. If the fault does not return, it may have been a transient voltage spike.

  2. Harness Inspection

If the fault is still present, inspect the wiring harness between the Multi-Function Handle and the Armrest Control Module for chafing, pinched wires, or corrosion.

  3. Component Replacement

Because the rear hitch raise switch is integrated into the Multi-Function Handle, a hard failure of the switch itself typically requires replacing the entire Multi-Function Handle assembly.

  4. Recalibration

After replacing the handle or the ACM, use the EST to verify the ACM configuration (Config B/b 3.6) and ensure the new handle is communicating properly on the CAN bus.
